Katherine Rudolph is a 2009 graduate of the Jewelry & Metalsmithing program at RISD.  She is proud to call New England home and currently has a studio in New Hampshire.  Her jewelry is highly inspired by architectural forms.  Photos taken while traveling often serve as the origins of a design.  When looking to the skyline, she enjoys isolating specific buildings and deconstructing them with an interest in understanding their logic and order.  The smallest architectural details don’t go overlooked.  She strives for crisp, geometric forms, and explores the possibilities of repetition.  Her paper models translate well into thin gauge sheet metal, which she is able to score and fold into crisp forms.  This is a favorite technique, as it allows for voluminous yet deceivingly lightweight forms.  Working primarily in sterling silver and 18k gold, she adds pops of color through the use of stones and patinas.  When worn, she hopes her jewelry will go beyond applied adornment to become one with the body, echoing its curves and responding to the subtlest of movements.
